Welcome at the webpage of the MA Programme “Studies in History, Spirituality Art and Μusical Tradition of Mount Athos” of the Department of Social Theology and Christian Culture of the Faculty of Theology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
The Postgraduate Programme aims at the scientific training and qualification of selected graduates in systematic and special studies in History, Spirituality and Theology, Archaeology, Architecture, Art, Musicology and the Chanting Tradition of Mount Athos, as defined in the following three specializations:
(a) History and Art of Mount Athos
(b) Theology and Spirituality of Mount Athos
(c) Musical Tradition and Chanting Art of Mount Athos
The main objectives of the present Programme are the cultivation and promotion of scientific knowledge and research in the field of Mount Athos studies, which is of great international scientific interest, and the training of postgraduate students with special knowledge in the fields of Mount Athos history, spirituality, art, archaeology, and architecture, as well as the music and chant tradition of Mount Athos.
The MA Programme “Studies in the History, Spirituality, Art and Musical Tradition of Mount Athos” is a full-time programme of 90 credit units (ECTS), which has a minimum duration of three (3) academic semesters, including the time for the preparation of the Master thesis.
