Scientific Work

The Mount Athos Center has developed an important scientific-research role as a central point of its activities.

The research contains different volumes of spiritual, cultural, and architectural history of the Monastic State, as well as examples of everyday life.

Each program of research unfolds in three main actions: the research, a related publication, and the organization of an exhibit that includes the information that resulted from the research.

The scientific work, as a rule original, is carried out by internal and external partners of the Mount Athos Center, who have been chosen with criteria being their knowledge, their specialization and their previous related work.

Also contained in the publications, such as catalogues, yearbooks, calendars or photographic reprints, are introductory texts with information that enriches our knowledge and our thinking.

In this way, a large volume of Scientific Works are gradually being accumulated, which comprise a self-powered contribution to this study of the sources, in the display and a projection of a valuable spiritual and cultural legacy and the contemporary spiritual brilliance of the Holy Mountain.
