The Calendar of the Mount Athos Center for the year 2002 is dedicated to the treasury of the Protaton.  It contains introductory statements and a wealth of photographic material (icons, manuscripts, other historic documents, miniature art, handworks etc.), representative of the wealth of treasures kept at the governing center of Athos.  First is an introduction by Kriton Chrisochoidis, Director of The Institute of Byzantine Research at The National Research Foundation, called “The Protaton and Athonite Monasticism”, followed by the commentary of Seraphim Thyepolou regarding the miracle of the icon of the Mother of God known also as the “Axion Estin”.
