2012 THE CUTTING OF THE MOUNT ATHOS CENTER’S STAFF TRADITIONAL VASILOPITA

In the presence of the Staff, members of the Administrative Council and the representative of the Holy Community of Mount Athos, Elder Nikodimos of St. Paul’s Monastery, the Mayor of Thessaloniki and the ex officio President of the Board of Directors for the Mount Athos Center Mr. Yiannis Boutaris cut the traditional New Year’s eve pie (vasilopita) pie at the Mount Athos Center.
In the ceremony that was hosted at the premises of Mount Athos Center’s Bookstore, the Mayor of Thessaloniki in his short greeting referred to the important scientific, cultural and spiritual work presented by the Center the last 11 years since its foundation, a high quality effort which enjoys the trust and the appreciation of the scientific world, the cultural and educational institutions and that of the society in general and has been established as an integral part of the cultural life and identity of Thessaloniki.
The representative of the Holy Community conveyed the thanksgiving of the supreme body of the Monastic Community, the trust with which the work of the Mount Athos Center is surrounded, for the excellent cooperation, the publications, the international conferences, the exhibitions, etc.
The event was also attended by the President of the Municipal Council of Thessaloniki and Vice President of the Administrative Council of Mount Athos Center, Mr. Panagiotis Avramopoulos, and the Vice Mayor of Culture, Education and Tourism of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, Mr. Spyros Pegkas, member of the Administrative Council of the Mount Athos Center
