New Sources of Mount Athos Institutions

From the Patriarchal publication house in Alexandria- 1209 (Published 1915)

MOUNT ATHOS ANALECTA No4

Reprinted in 2011, 185 pp., hardcover, 16.5 x 24,5 cm, ISBN 978-960-98312-3-9, Not for Sale

This project is one of the first systematic attempts of bringing together into a single collection from various archival units and issuing a corpus of substantial number of unknown documents with a broad range of topics, which though illustrate explicitly various institutions of the Athonite state.

The reissuing of this hard to find  but useful publication we hope that will hopefully assist in the understanding of the history of Mount Athos’ institutions during the long period of Ottoman rule and that will help readers realize the durability and the unchangeable character of the basic spiritual and canon-law principles governing Mount Athos monastic life, despite the inevitable changes imposed by various circumstances.
