CELEBRATING THE 130 YEARS OF SOFIA CROWNING AS CAPITAL OF BULGARIA

Continuing with its presence abroad, the Mount Athos Center organized in collaboration with the Greek Culture Foundation of Sofia a photo exhibition for the Holy Mountain by the Swiss photographer FRED BOISSONNAS (1928 – 1930).

This exhibition is the third one in a series that were presented at the Centers of the Greek Cultural Foundation in Berlin and Trieste.  A joint collaboration with the Thessaloniki Museum of Photography and the Society for the Promotion of Greek Culture, in lieu of the celebrations of the 130th anniversary of the proclamation of Sofia as capital of Bulgaria.  The exhibition was hosted at the Exhibition Hall of the Centre of the Greek Cultural Foundation and was open from the 16th of September to October 25th, 2009 showing 70 images from two visits of FRED BOISSONNAS to the Holy Mountain in the first of half of the he early 20th century.
